Comments about Novara Ponderosa 29er Bike - 2010:
I have been enjoying this bike for almost a month, and really like the big tires and smooth ride. The gearing is plenty low enough for challenging climbs and this bike is quite fun to ride on the downhill as well. I have had to add a chain gaurd/neoprene skin to protect the frame from the chain. After only two trips on the singletrack the stock sticker and paint had taken an amazing amount of abuse. The disc brakes are not the top of the line, but they provide a hair trigger effect and are very effecient at stopping and slowing the bike. I did have to take the bike back into the REI bike shop after a few rides because the front forks felt a little loose(clunking thuding sound when at the end of a stop), and sure enough the friendly staff tightend it all back up in 3 minutes or less and I was back in the pedals again.

Comments about Novara Ponderosa 29er Bike - 2010:
I am a big person, 6' 2", 270 lbs. I've tried a number of bikes over the last couple of years and those that offered full suspension were always sagging under my weight. Most bikes with 26" wheels were just too small for me, I did not find one that I could stand up and peddle uphill without losing traction. Bottom line, this bike has top components, great geometry, the 29" rims have performed far better than I could have ever hoped for in road riding, single track and riding the occasional fire road. The larger wheels give me more confidence and I ride more aggressively than I did before – which translates to more fun.

Comments about Novara Ponderosa 29er Bike - 2010:
My first new bike in 15 years. I stand 6'4" so this 29er is a great fit. It's also smooth and fast! Picked this gem up at the Corte Madera store during the Members' Sale. Great price, very friendly staff, wonderful experience overall. I pretty much ride on various fire roads of Mt. Tamalpais but do use it around town as well.

Just bought this bike today. Great price. Love the huge tires. Can't wait to take it on the trails in Annadel.

Comments about Novara Ponderosa 29er Bike - 2010:
Great bike for the price. Components are a level up from everything else in this price range. Front shock isn't the best, but it does okay. The tires don't have a very deep tread, so traction can be an issue. Otherwise, it shifts well, it stops well, and it climbs great. It makes me feel like I am in better shape than I really am.
