Comments about REI Nalgene Everyday Wide-Mouth Loop-Top Water Bottle - 32 fl. oz.:
Very easy to clean, and it's hard to lose the top because it is attached to the bottle. I only wish they had more colors to chose from.

Comments about REI Nalgene Everyday Wide-Mouth Loop-Top Water Bottle - 32 fl. oz.:
There is no reason to choose a Camelbak Better Bottle over the Nalgene Classic. Both are now BPA free. The Nalgene product is easier to clean and is made in the USA. It is also compatible with many other products such as water purifiers and backpacks. Many of those items are designed specifically to be used in concert with the 32 ounce Nalgene design. Lastly, the Nalgene is a few dollars less expensive.

Comments about REI Nalgene Everyday Wide-Mouth Loop-Top Water Bottle - 32 fl. oz.:
I work outdoors everyday, and on the weekends I like to hike. I never go a day without one of my Nalgene bottles. I've put all sorts of flavored drinks, ice cold coffee and hot tea in mine. Every time I put water in it though, it still tastes just like water. No flavors are retained. Works as well as the old Nalgenes.

Comments about REI Nalgene Everyday Wide-Mouth Loop-Top Water Bottle - 32 fl. oz.:
I bought mine because the plastic water bottles should not be used and re-used. I also did not want to keep on buying bottled water to stuff the landfill.
The wide mouth ones are the best; easy to fill up, to wash, and purifier friendly. It doesn't break or leak. I put mine in the freezer all the time to have cold water all day (use a Built NY 32oz tote to keep the ice good for a whole day and no sweating bottle).
I don't use it for tea steeping but I pour hot steeped tea in it many time for faster cooling.
There's no odor or funny taste no matter how long the plain water has been in it (I have one in the car at all times).
With a splashguard to keep the ice cubes at bay and prevent water from splashing, I can drink it anywhere, any time, and under any condition.
I use my bottles so often that my friends know that where I go, my Nalgene bottle goes.
One for freezer, one for fridge, one for car, one for gym bag, one for work, one for 24-7.....I will never go back to plastic water bottle again.

Gimme back the old Nalgene bottles! I used iodine and neutralizing tablets on a recent trek, and even after washing the bottle several times and using it a couple weeks with tap water, water from the bottle tastes of iodine (although the treated water didn't taste of iodine on the trek.) Now I wonder if the new plastic will retain other flavors as well.

Comments about REI Nalgene Everyday Wide-Mouth Loop-Top Water Bottle - 32 fl. oz.:
I love Nalgene bottles... got my first one, as a gift, over 4 years ago and have bought a dozen different ones since them. I buy them as gifts for just about everyone and my toddler has several of the kid sippy version. My only complaint is that the newer ones keep developing cracks in the bottom and leaking, thus ending up in the trash. They are not abused, just used as all the others are used. My original Nalgene bottle was actually used to smash in the dash of my truck and while the truck broke, the bottle did not. Needless to say, this set a high standard and leaves me wondering if something has happened to the quality. I hate to keep buying bottles only to throw them away because of cracks, kind of defeats the purpose of buying reusable bottles.

Comments about REI Nalgene Everyday Wide-Mouth Loop-Top Water Bottle - 32 fl. oz.:
I have been using one of these Nalgene bottles for about 2 years now as my daily water bottle. I've used it with water, tea, and powdered gatorade.
I worked for an armored car company for about a year, and this bottle rolled around in the back of an armored truck (steel-no padding, and a VERY bumpy ride) the outside of the bottle is foggy with scratches but does not leak.
I dropped the bottle off of the "virgin of Panecillo" statue in Quito, Ecuador (the viewing deck was probably 45 feet or so) the bottle was completely full and bounced about 15 feet off concrete. It still does not leak!
The bottle doesn't really retain flavors, and doesn't taste like plastic.
It also mates with my MSR filter.
I will be buying a couple more as soon as I get back to the States!

Ever since I bought the bottle I have taken it with me everywhere. It is the perfect bottle for everyday use and out on the trail. I have dropped it numerous times and has held up great. I took it out on a trip to the San Gabriel River and found out it screws perfectly together with the MSR MiniWorks Ex Water Filter, making filtering water very simple and convenient. The two go very good together.

I got this bottle because it's supposed to be the bottle to buy and everyone else has it. It's a good water bottle for the desk. When it's filled to capacity, it's a little heavy when clipped to my belt or backpack. No problems when it's in the backpack but then I'm not drinking, right?
It holds the temperature (warm or cool) for a good amount of time. We just picked up the Nalgene neoprene bottle so that should improve holding temps even better. Also picked up the splashguard so hopefully that makes accidental "drinking problems" go away. I prefer the widemouth to the narrowmouth because of the widemouth's expected usefullness and ease of cleanining.
Lids from widemouth Camelbacks also seem to fit.

What can I say about this time tested piece of gear. I don't see how anyone can be an REI customer and not own one or more of these.
I only use them for water as they tend to retain smells and tastes of sports drinks or other beverages you may have used.
The price is on par with other places and the differences are negligible, however I do purchase these from other retailers because I really do not like the Forest/Tree decorations on the front. However REI does have an excellent selection in colors.
Come on REI please design some better art work for the front or leave it off.
